Apologies to anyone who read this post on custom obsessions, but it didn't recieve any feedback. So, I thought I'd try here.

Back around 1998, I bought an '82 silver 2-door gas auto, which was not running. It had an amazing body for an old car, and the dark blue Americanized interior was very clean. Needless to say, I couldn't pass it up for $250. I had big plans to convert it to a manual transmission, and possibly diesel. Of course, I didn't have a job, so it did not materialize.
Anyway, I sold the car later that year to a guy from Sackville who said he was going to fix it up for his girlfriend. All I know is he drove a red Civic hatchback. I really liked the car and hated to see it go. I wish I said "call me when it's running."
I have a soft spot for old Rabbits, because I used to hitch rides back and forth to the city from Hubbards with my neighbour who had an '82 gold 2-door. Man, that thing was slow. He would drive it 90 km/h along the 103! It had the 3 + E transmission. He had the car quite a few years, and by the end of it, the starter was hanging by one cable, and he started it on the clutch - this went on for months! He sold the car for $250. The body was excellent. That's the bunny I should have bought.
Ah, old VW's and lost dreams. Anyone else care to share their stories?
I don't know why I'm so crazy about VW's. I've never owned one that ran! I guess there is just something special about 'em!

my first VW i ever owned was actually the first car i ever owned, it was an 84 rabbit, that was about 14 yrs ago, i was 14 or something. I actually got it for free from a customer on the paper route i used to have, he didnt want it in his yard, so i asked if i could buy it, and he said just take it hehe. i didnt have my license obviously, but i lived in a very small town, so id drive it anyways. it was a manual, so i had to learn how to shift, the back windows didnt roll down from it sitting for so long, but it started up like a charm. I had that thing for about 4 yrs, and it took such a beating. i loved it. then didnt own another VW till this summer, Ive always loved VW`s, but couldnt find one that peaked my interest, then i found a 92 4dr Golf wolfsburg edition, that turned out to be a crap box, but i love it, but within a few weeks im hopin to have another one in much better shape. oh well thats my rant.
