I have a set of vintage roof rack bars for sale. They are marked 'Made in Scarborouogh Ont.' They were designed, I believe, to fit over a Westfalia pop top. They mount to the rain gutter and are very sturdy. They are strong enough to stand on really. They fit Split Window (1955-1967) and Bay Window (1968-1979) Type II's. I have only seen one other set like them on a Split Window bus in New Brunswick.
These bars look really good then are are very useful. I have mounted canoes, inflated zodiacs, and kayaks to them on numerous occasions. They could probably be modified to accept other accessories like bike carriers.
